MEMBERSHIP HAS ITS PRIVILEGES
This is one of those phrases that instantly make you think of the product it was designed to promote. American Express. This catchphrase was designed to foster a belief that if you qualified for their credit card, then you were part of the elite, the powerful, and the “privileged”. Strip away the commercial baggage attached to it, and the slogan remains both profound and truthful. Membership does have its privileges.
At MCCA, we believe that membership should have privileges as well. We’re not just a professional organization with detached members so far away from each other that it loses its relevance, but a group of people in your own backyard, dealing with issues similar to your own. Having the opportunity to network with other counselors, to rub shoulders with veteran educators and therapists, and to learn from each other throughout the year is what MCCA is all about. Our membership has grown each year and our hope is that the more members we have the more knowledge and experience can be shared.
This year we are introducing a 12 month membership. In the past, the membership was good for the current school year, regardless of when you signed on. This policy shift is not just a benefit to you, but aligns us with our parent organizations, PSCA and ASCA. We are also introducing our very own website - www.mccapa.org - which will be available soon to provide you with outstanding resources, professional helps, and updates on our programs throughout the year. Also this year, we are planning social gatherings, to further enhance the networking that we believe is so very important in our business.
These improvements only serve to compliment our already strong programs which feature dynamic speakers sharing their experiences as they work tirelessly to promote valuable learning strategies; deal with stress, grief and loss, and eating disorders.
